Our Nominated Charity for 2026

Emily's Bucket List

Picture
This year, the club has chosen to support Emily’s Bucket List as our nominated charity.
Emily Render, granddaughter of long serving committee member Jackie Algar, was diagnosed with Stage 3 brain cancer (Oligodendroglioma) in early 2024. Since then, she has faced a challenging journey, including a brain operation at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, six weeks of radiotherapy, and sessions of chemotherapy, which concluded just before Christmas 2024.

Unfortunately, in March 2025, Emily’s cancer returned. Following a recent MRI in September, her condition is currently stable.

Emily and her family continue to face this journey with courage, and our club is committed to supporting her. Funds raised through our projects, including Danny and Gary’s weight-loss challenge, are going toward Emily’s Bucket List, helping to make her wishes and dreams come true.

We encourage everyone to get involved and support Emily in any way they can - every donation and show of support makes a difference.

Sponsor Danny & Gary – Losing Weight for Emily’s Bucket List

Danny Flawn (starting weight 18 stone 7lb) and Gary Atkins (Yorkie - starting weight 18 stone 6lb) are taking on a weight-loss challenge to raise money for Emily’s Bucket List.

Their challenge runs from 1st January to 3rd April 2026, and every donation - big or small - will make a real difference.

Thank you for your support - and good luck Danny and Yorkie! 💙

Supporting Local History - One Pint at a Time!

At our recent beer festival, we raised £220 for a cause close to our hearts. Through sales of our special charity brew, “Bombs Away”, festival-goers joined us in supporting the 389th Bomb Group Museum in Hethel. Every time someone ordered the beer, we rang an authentic air raid siren — a fitting tribute to the site’s World War II roots.

The 389th Bomb Group housed RAF and USAAF personnel during the Second World War and now operates as a museum, run entirely by dedicated volunteers.

We’re proud to help preserve this vital piece of local and military history.

Supporting our Community

We are more than just a social club - we are an active part of the Wymondham community, working closely with charities and local groups throughout the year. From hosting afternoon teas for the towns older folk with cake, games, raffles, and classic film screenings, to running sponsored sleep outs at the Town Cross to raise funds for homeless charities, we are always looking for ways to give back.

Our charity initiatives include regular Macmillan cake sales, warm banks during the colder months, and charity quiz nights where half the winnings are donated to good causes. You’ll also find collection boxes on the bar for various local and national charities.

We’re proud to be the regular practice venue of the City of Norwich Pipe Band too - keeping community traditions alive and well.
